What is a Home Care Package (HCP)?

A Home Care Package (HCP) uses government funding to assist seniors who need regular support or advanced care to continue living independently at home for as long as possible.

If you qualify for an Australian government Home Care Package, you can utilise your funds to access various services. Depending on your needs and what’s available in your area, these services might include domestic assistance, home and garden upkeep, in-home nursing, transportation for appointments, social support, meal preparation, and a range of allied health, community, and specialist services.

Understanding Home Care Package Fees

Here are several important aspects to know about the fees associated with Home Care Packages:
When you qualify for a Home Care Package, the Australian Government designates a specific amount of funds for your care needs. The government mandates that all recipients contribute to their care costs if financially able hence, personal contributions and fees are also part of the equation. These contributions, along with the government subsidy, constitute your overall Home Care Package (HCP) budget.

A full table of Co-Contribution fees are available to view and download here.

This budget is managed through a Services Australia account under your name, but the funds are not directly disbursed to you. Instead, they are paid to your provider once they deliver the services.
